I wrote this track in 2006 at a particularly low point in my life. To this day I can’t perform it without getting choked up and reliving that moment in time. I’ll never forget this day of writing and recording. Thanks for going back in time with me -Dusty
“No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride…and if it occasionally gets a little heavier than what you had in mind, well…maybe chalk it off to forced conscious expansion: Tune in, freak out, get beaten.” ― Hunter S. Thompson, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
(For the tech nerds: The piano sample was chopped and edited live on a CDJ800. I added the drum break and recorded the vocals onto the PC using the Cakewalk program Sonar6.)
My new album with iD the Poet was released Friday. We did a CD release show with some friends of ours to celebrate. Eligh, Lucky and Scarub of the Living Legends crew were there to close out the night. The show was at Winstons in OB and it was beyond sold out. It was an honor and a blessing that it worked out the way it did and we were given the opportunity to perform our new music for the first time for a few hundred people. Not all shows have this type of energy and it was a great way to debut this music. It was a humbling experience and I had a great time. We gave away 50 free copies of the CD to some fans and met a lot of cool people. Stream or download the album below. Name your price. All donations will go back into making more music and is greatly appreciated. If not, you can enter 0 as the price and download it for free.
Here is the second leak off the new album with iD the Poet. It’s a dubby lo fi track that I produced and recorded in Ableton Live. Its got three part harmonies and vocals by myself and iD, live instruments over heavy dub rhythms. Full album is coming May 20th and its filled with gritty guitars, soulful singing and poetic lyrical performances resembling but not limited to hip hop and dubstep. download or listen for free.
This is the first track from ‘Bully Free’ an 8 song EP that iD the Poet and I recorded this winter. The title is “Particles and Waves” and it was inspired by quantum physics, meditation and psychedelics.
